How do I assign or update A records for the custom name servers for my domains?

Last updated: June 28, 2012

To manage your own name servers first you will need to decide which domain name of yours the custom name servers will be associated with. Then log into the account interface where that domain is registered and enter the custom name servers and associated IPs per their instructions. After you have registered your custom nameservers with your registrar and they have propagated you can assign them to your domains which will then point DNS requests for those domains to your custom nameservers giving you full control over the DNS for your domain.

Assign or edit a custom nameserver at GoDaddy

Assign or edit a custom nameserver at Network Solutions

Assign or edit a custom nameserver at Enom

Use these examples as a guideline for other registrars.

If your server has been migrated within or to our network you will need to follow the correct link above for specific instructions pertaining to your registrar.

Note: If you are not sure what registrar you used to obtain a domain you can use whois to determine that information -
